Plomb Era Tool Chests

Image Description:

The Plomb 9990 series Tool Chest was introduced in 1937 and advertised as "designed to hold a large set of tools securely and in convenient order..... a masterpiece of convenience." It weighs 44lbs. empty, is 11" wide, 33 3/4" deep, and 24" long and made of 18 gauge steel. This model tool chest appears to be still available in 1949 (Catalog 4922) however the small drawers are reconfigured to sit on the right side of the box, rather than the left. Therefore, this box appears to have been available between 1937 and 1949 although finished in drab green, we estimate this box to be dated between 1941 and 1945.

This chest was made prior to 1935 which is determined by the oval 'O' rather than the inverted triangle.  It has a drop front and a lift out tray.  My tray was missing when the photo was taken.  20" long x 10-3/4" wide and 9" deep.  Original price....$7.85
