Wakefield, J. E. Wrench Company

J. E. Wakefield Wrench Co. (Worcester, MA) - Before wrenches, Mr. Wakefield focused his inventions on furniture, specifically all sorts of folding chairs.  We believe the wrench business began in 1889.  We have found no impetus for the turn to wrench making in the form of a patent or otherwise.  His first patent for a wrench was applied for in November of 1890 and not awarded until June of 1891.  Clarence Wakefield took over on his father's passing in 1910.
